A bit of history:

Establishment and Swedish influence

Guglielmo Vistosi founded Vistosi Glass in 1946 in Murano, Italy. At the time, Swedish glass designers were creating a new glass aesthetic, and Vistosi drew inspiration from their use of organic forms, harmonious colours and understated designs. These qualities not only generated significant demand but also inspired copies throughout the Western design world.

During the 1950s, Gino Vistosi, Guglielmo’s nephew, joined Alessandro Pianon in travelling to Swedish and Northern European glass factories. There he discovered a new world of inspiration and developed a simple, modern style that would soon become characteristic of Vistosi’s glassware. From 1952, Gino Vistosi, together with his brother Luciano and cousin Oreste, took over the management of the company, helping to secure its continued growth.

The new minimalist designs worked particularly well with the interior trends of the 1960s and 1970s, a period when many Murano glassworks were struggling to sell their more intricate and traditional products. At the same time, traditional Murano glassmaking gradually lost some of its prestige in favour of new, innovative designs that found a ready market.

The 1970s to the present

From the 1970s onwards, Vistosi increasingly focused on lighting and lamps. The company launched several unique products, many designed by leading designers, which helped establish its position in the industry. Eventually, the company was taken over by Aureliano Toso, another specialist in lighting, who continued Vistosi’s tradition of high-quality products.

Today, Vistosi offers a wide range of high-quality lamps and lighting fixtures. The company continues to make its mark on contemporary design while preserving its heritage and strong connection to Murano glass.
